Monster Cable Beats by Dr. Dre Studio Headphones

Monster Cable Beats by Dr. Dre Studio Headphones

"Outstanding!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Feature:
The Beats came with a few accessories. A very nifty cleaning cloth for the head phones themselves. 2 sets of cords. One normal headphone cord and the other is for your Iphone. There was also a very nice carrying case for the head phones as well.

Quality:
The Beats are very sleek, slim and slick. The are extremely sturdy and dependable. They are very reliable. These are now the only head phones that I use. In addition the head phones have a great battery life! :)

Value:
Although they are expensive, These headphones are worth every penny!

Desirability:
The "Sex Appeal" of this product is huge. Some of the Top DJ's, Producers and Artist's are seen wearing Beats. They are seen as stylish and attractive. Most people want what they see is trendy amongst others.

Sound:
The sound from these head phones are amazing. the quality is definitely "Top Notch". The sound is extremely expressive. The head phones give me the sound that I have been looking for! Sometimes there is distortion in the Bass frequencies, however it is normally due to the fact that I have my monitor head phone volume too loud. The sound is superb in live and recording settings. I use my Beats for production work with "Pro Tools" and "Ableton Live". They are also used in Live performances with a program called Scratch Live. Hands down "The best sounding head phones around"

Ease of Use:
They were very easy to use. I have not had the need to modify the sound, it sounds perfect as is. Very easy to use with other products. The manual put everything in very simple terms so it was very easy to follow.

Support:
Everything has been great. Haven't needed any support as of yet.

Overall:
I will have these head phones forever. I'm actually looking to get them in every color that they come out with. The Beats are far ahead of the competition. They are by far the BEST head phones I have ever wore. If I lost my pair, I would be buying another pair from the same company. Hands down, the thing I like the most about them is the "Sound".

Usual Price: $299

Numark Red Wave DJ Headphones

Numark Red Wave DJ Headphones

"If you want red and black headphones, don't bother with Beats."

Feature:
The 10' stock cable is gold plated, angled, and comes with a 1/4 adapter (also gold plated). For my mixer, I love that it's angled and when using an mp3 player, it tucks it away nicely as well. Having that much cable when walking around is a bit cumbersome though. It also comes with leather carrying bag. Boss. A minor thing is my ears are sensitive to pressure so after an extended amount of use, even the cushy leather bothers my ears (these are on-ear), but a small break will have you rocking again in no time.

Quality:
Maybe it's just mine, but the swivels need a bit of breaking in before they feel like they're actually swivel cups. I thought I was surely going to break mine when I first got to adjusting them. Otherwise, rock-solid. They've been banged around a little bit and have no obvious signs of wear.

Value:
Love it. Bought them on a whim after being charmed by the design and having a recommendation from another DJ and I was pleased with my decision.

Desirability:
As said, the design was the first thing that caught my eye. Also, the hybrid look of Pioneers vs. Numark color scheme makes them look like something from a science fiction movie.

Sound:
The sound on this has been a step up from my previous headphones (AKG K44s). Everything remains super clear and unless you're maxing out EQs to dangerous levels, there's absolutely no distortion. 10/10 for sound vs. price.

Ease of Use:
Does what it says on the tin.

Support:
Numark is tougher to get a hold of than the white house. Good thing these cans are not in need of support.

Overall:
I've had several other sets of headphones in mind for the past month or two, but I see no reason to upgrade any time soon unless I want something that looks different or am convinced I'm getting the deal of the century.

Usual Price: $100

Pioneer HDJ-1000 Stereo Headphones

Pioneer HDJ-1000 Stereo Headphones

"for DJs and non DJs"

Feature:
A hard-hitting DJ headphone- my personal opinion is that all audio obsession should start with a set of DJ headphones (even non-DJs). My main complaint with the Pioneers is the lack of user-replaceable parts. I've had mine for 7.5 years, and they look and sound brand new, but replaceable pads and cable would make me feel better.

Quality:
Looking closely at the HDJ1000s, I can understand the complaints about the flimsy construction. But for this reason, I treat these as I do all of my professional-grade equipment. The HDJ1000 is precisely that - professional gear, and like all professional gear, it has to be cared for. I don't intend to criticize those who have broken theirs, since the flimsy plastic is sub-standard for this category of equipment. I just get extra paranoid with these when gigging, so they are in superb condition. Seven and a half years, baby! Is that a record? I think the HDJ2000 was made to address these concerns, since it has identical specs and sturdier construction (and twice the price).

Value:
People say that when you buy Pioneer, you are paying for the name. To a degree, that is true, but the name represents a solid product. These headphones are phenominal. Comparable products can cost less (I like Sony and Sennheiser just as much), but my Pioneers have not malfunctioned or shown a bit of deterioration in the time I have had them.

Desirability:
They look really cool, when DJing and when drinking coffee. The Sennheiser HD280 is another favorite of mine, but the Pioneers look much better, and they are tweaked better for listening enjoyment.

Sound:
I've been using these with my CDJ800 decks and DJM707 for the past few years - the 'phones for 7yrs. exactly. I have been using them mainly for DJing house parties and listening enjoyment with my bookshelf system and iPods (all lossless now). I really dig the wide frequency response; classical sounds just as good metal. The frequency curve seems to be tweaked such that they are functional for DJs (pronounced midrange) and do well for casual listening (full, low-register bass response). Every style of music sounds great with these. I really lime how powerful they are; I listen at really low volumes, but you can crank the HDJ1000s up and set them on a table, and you will be able to clearly hear the music without distortion.

Ease of Use:
Plug n play

Support:
For a few years, I was on the Pioneer DJ forums. I never went to support directly, but on the forums, we were connected with real DJs and representatives from Pioneer Pro DJ and Pioneer Electronics, who all helped out with gear issues, or at least directed us to the right channels.

Overall:
Still a bit more expensive than comparable Sony and Sennheiser models, but the Pioneer HDJ1000s are one of my favorite pieces of music gear.

Usual Price: $169

Stanton DJ Pro 2000S Headphones

Stanton DJ Pro 2000S Headphones

"Put the great sounds from zZounds in your ears where they belong! Buy a Stanton DJ PRO 2000S."

Sound:
I am very hard of hearing and the clarity of these headphones has made a big difference in my ability to understand the TV and also have a great experience with the music I listen to. Also, some of the TV stations I listen to only come through on one channel so the being able to switch the headphones to mono helps me immensely. Thanks Stanton and zZounds!

Overall:
I do wish there were parts available for these 'phones, a straight cord would be very welcome instead of the coiled cord.
