DiMarzio DP215 Evolution 2 Humbucker Pickup

The original Evolution® bridge model did exactly what Steve Vai wanted it to do: kick butt and produce serious scream. Now he wants something a little more complex-the same basic tone with increased headroom and dynamics, so that the sound kills on 10 and cleans up when the volume is rolled down. With a little less power than the original Evolution®, Evo 2™ balances perfectly with the Evolution® neck model and performs equally well with high gain and vintage amps.

DiMarzio DP217 YJM Single-Coil Pickup

You might not realize it from his music, but Yngwie Malmsteen is a vintage Strat® collector, and he swears by his 50s and 60s axes. He also swears by DiMarzio's HS-3™, and he's always wanted a vintage magnet-stagger version to go with his best guitars. While there is still a strong resemblance to the HS-3™, the YJM™ has more presence and brilliance, particularly on the high strings, and still no 60-cycle hum.

DiMarzio DP415 Area '58 Single-Coil Pickup

There are two major differences between a great vintage Strat® pickup and an average one: treble response and dynamics. A great pickup is clear and bright, but not thin-sounding. A great one makes the sound jump out of the amp when you pick hard and drop way down when you play softly, and the tone varies when the string is picked at different spots. The best pickup DiMarzio has ever heard like this was from 1958, and that's what inspired the Area '58™, with two major differences. DiMarzio's pickup has way less magnet pull, and virtually no hum.

DiMarzio DP702 Blaze 7 Humbucker Pickup

The Blaze™ Bridge Model bears a strong resemblance to the Steve's Special™. The mids are scooped out, and both treble and bass are boosted. The hot bass response gives the seventh string a lot of impact, while opening up the midrange keeps it from getting muddy. This enables the Blaze™ Bridge Model to handle both fast soloing and clean chords, because individual notes won't smear together with heavy overdrive, and clean sounds have an almost "hi-fi" quality.

The first Telecaster pickup (1948) had an unprecedented edgy sound and great sustain. Leo Fender called it the Broadcaster, and Seymour Duncan made one exactly like it. The STL-1b duplicates this fat, most sought-after vintage sound. The pole pieces are larger diameter, Dun-Aged magnets. Replace both your rhythm and lead pickups to get the classic Broadcaster sound that started a legend.

Seymour Duncan STL52 Five-Two Telecaster Bridge Single-Coil Pickup

Here's how the Five-Two concept works: Seymour utilizes sand cast alnico 5 magnets on the three low strings. This adds more definition and punch to the bottom end. Seymour uses sand cast alnico 2 magnets on the three high strings. This gives the player a warm and smooth top end without sacrificing that great Tele "twang." Tele players often complain that their low strings sound "mushy" and their high strings are too bright - especially in the bridge position. The Five-Two concept counteracts this phenomenon. If you look closely at the pickup, you can actually see the difference between the two magnet types. The result is an all-around, extremely well-balanced pickup. The Five-Two has traditional output and vintage appointments such as vulcanized fibre bobbins, formvar wire, a vintage magnet stagger and waxed cloth hookup cable. A custom bridge version is available for more output in the bridge position and a reverse wound, reverse polarity middle pickup can be used to create a hum-canceling effect when used t
