Falling In Love is Wonderful Celebrates Romance with Broadway’s Greatest Love Duets
From Sony BMG Masterworks unparalleled catalogue of Broadway recordings, Falling in Love Is Wonderful brings together the greatest love duets from classic Broadway musicals, sung by many of the legends of Broadway in memorable original cast recordings. The title comes from the lyric of the first selection, the irrepressible “They Say It’s Wonderful” from Irving Berlin’s Annie Get Your Gun. Included are all the great love duets of Rodgers and Hammerstein, Loesser, Berlin, Bernstein and Sondheim, Kern and Hammerstein, Schmidt and Jones, and Bock and Harnick, as well as two great composer/lyricists of the new generation, William Finn and Jason Robert Brown.
Barbara Cook, Mary Martin, Robert Preston, Ethel Merman, John Raitt and Zero Mostel – as well as contemporary Broadway headliners such as Peter Gallagher, Malcolm Gets, Brent Carver and Carolee Carmello – top the lineup of stars. They sing love duets that range from the lilting “Make Believe” from 1927 classic Show Boat and the witty “People Will Say We’re in Love” from Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Oklahoma! (1943), to the passionate beauty of two latter-day classics, Jason Robert Brown’s “All the Wasted Time” (Parade) and William Finn’s “Sailing” (A New Brain).]]>
